Japanese auto auctions are not eBay. Only members bid. You buy through a dealer or exporter who has a seat, a contract with you, and an invoice from the hall after a win. Anything that skips those pieces is not “a good USS deal.” It is how people get scammed.
A legitimate auction car can still be a bad car. The sheet is as-is, claim windows are short, and R / RA is not a secret code — it is printed: R, RA and 修復歴. “Without getting scammed” means you were not lied to about the process. It does not mean the CVT never fails.
KMC JAPAN helps customers in Sasebo and across Kyushu find Japanese used cars, including affordable kei cars, compact cars, SUVs, minivans and hybrids. We bid from Ogori, Fukuoka after a signed proxy agreement and deposit. We do not take Western Union for a “reserved lot.” We do not hide 修復歴 on export papers.
How our proxy bidding works Ask about a specific lot
What a real auction purchase looks like
- You name the car, max bid in yen, and export vs Japan use (two different contracts)
- You sign the matching agreement and pay the deposit on that paper
- We bid only up to your written cap, as the member
- If you win, you get an invoice: hammer + hall charges + tax + recycle + 陸送 + our fee — not a mystery “FOB all-in” WhatsApp number. Stack: what a ¥300,000 hammer really costs
- Japan use then needs 名義変更; export needs deregistration and a ship. Not both on one handshake
If you do not win, the deposit comes back minus bank charges, unless you refuse a win inside your limit (hall penalties can apply). That rule is on the contract — read it.
Red flags (walk away)
- No Japanese company, no hall, no lot — only Instagram and a private account
- Pay in full before the auction day “to reserve the car”
- Crypto, gift cards, Western Union, or a friend’s personal account
- Price far below market on a late Aqua or Freed with a 5-point story and a 24-hour countdown
- Sheet with no venue / date / lot, or photos that do not match the odometer and options
- “No 修復歴” when the grade is R or RA — that is a lie, not a bargain
- One contract for “use in Japan or ship, whatever you want later” — our desks split those on purpose
- Someone using the KMC JAPAN name who is not on kmcjapan.co.jp — contact us on this site only
Tricks that are not always “a scam” but still hurt
- A real 3.5-point car sold as if it were a 4.5
- Flood, meter, or *** lots that a broker “forgets” to translate
- Shaken due next week on a cheap hammer
- Export quotes that omit destination duty and your country’s age rules
Optional history check (past appearances, not a warranty): True Report. English desk: English-speaking car dealer in Japan.
How to read the sheet so you are not the mark
- Overall box vs interior/exterior letters vs the comment line
- R / RA vs a condition grade — different jobs
- Shaken date, mileage, options, tyres in photos vs text
- Kyushu vs Tokyo hall — 陸送 is not free
We will tell you in English if the lot is a bad idea. We will not invent a guaranteed mechanical inspection the hall did not do. Auction claims follow that hall’s clock, not your Instagram DMs.
If you will register in Japan
You still need a residence address, 車庫証明, and 名義変更: transfer ownership, buy in Kyushu as a foreigner. A “cheap auction car” with no parking and no 任意 is how the second accident happens: insurance guide.
Start with KMC JAPAN the boring way
Email the lot or the budget. Sign the export or Japan-use proxy. Pay the deposit to the company account on the invoice. We bid. That is the anti-scam. Inventory if you would rather skip the hall: cars.php.
Not legal advice. We cannot police every fake “Japan auction” page on the internet. If the trail is not hall → member → your contract, do not send money.
