Used Car Import Rules & Regulations:
Destination Port: Karachi (Pakistan)
Time of Shipment: 16-26 Days (RoRo)
Vessel Schedule: Monthly (RoRo)
Shipping Line: ECL / NYK
Inspection: No Inspection Required
Left-Hand Drive Vehicles: Importation of left-hand drive vehicles is permitted
Age Restriction:
No age restriction on the importation of used vehicles
Import Restrictions:
Prior authorization from the Ministry of Commerce in Kabul, Afghanistan is required
Only foreigners with a work permit or working visa & diplomats can import a vehicle
Tourists are not allowed to import vehicles
Used Cars Import Documentation:
Original license for the vehicle
Original sell contract (if the vehicle is not owned by the shipper)
Passport copy
Bill of Lading
Original certificate of title and Registration
Tax exemption form (diplomats)
Request letter for customs clearance permission to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finance
Note Verbale (memo letter) from the Embassy / NGO organization (diplomatic status)
Note:
Foreigners with work permits, working visas, and diplomats are allowed to import vehicles into Afghanistan.
Tourists are not allowed to import vehicles into the country.
Vehicles are taxed between 10 and 16 percent, according to the model and year.
Trucks and buses are taxed at a rate of 2.5 percent.
Diplomats are exempt from paying duties and taxes.
