Chassis year questions
On the auction sheet it is labelled 車台番号. It is also stamped on a plate in the engine bay or door jamb, and printed on export papers.
No. Japan papers show first registration, which is often one or two months after the car left the factory.
Domestic Japanese cars use a model code plus a serial number (for example ZWR90-0247769). A 17-digit VIN is added later for some export markets.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Lexus and other Japanese codes in our database.
